Ha-tishoo- it’s Hayfever Season!

Not fair, is it? Just as the sun starts to warm up and we all enjoy being outside a little more each day, those beautiful flowers, trees and crops start releasing their tiny pollens spores- and if you’re a hayfever sufferer, you know about it.
‘Bee’ Comfortable
Perfectly timed to hit in time for half-term holidays, sports days and mock exams, hay fever’s sneezing, itchy eyes, and runny nose are distracting and uncomfortable. But these practical steps can help take the sting out of hayfever season.
1. Check daily pollen apps to avoid highest times of day (often early morning and evening).
2. To stay comfortable indoors, close windows and use internal air con in the car, a fan or air purifier at homes.
3. Pollen can cling to clothes, hair, and skin, so change out of outdoor clothes and shower to remove any trapped allergens.
4. Over-the-counter antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops can help relieve sneezing, itching, and congestion- double-check the kids have them in their school bag!
5. Some people find relief from hay fever symptoms by natural treatments like honey (to build up tolerance), steam inhalation, or saline nasal rinses.
6. Wearing sunglasses outdoors can help shield eyes from pollen. For sports days and country walks, a thin layer of petroleum jelly around your nostrils can trap pollen before it enters your nose.
